How I Price a Tow

I don't post a fixed price list, because every call is different. When you call, I ask where you are, where the vehicle needs to go, and what happened. Then I give you the price on the phone before a truck rolls. That quote is the price you pay.

Most tow companies, including mine, build a tow price from a hook-up fee (the cost to send the truck and load the vehicle) plus a charge for the miles driven. Roadside jobs like jump starts, lockouts, tire changes, and fuel delivery are usually a flat service charge, and with fuel delivery you also pay for the fuel.

What Affects Your Towing Cost?

• Distance: Longer tows mean more mileage charges. Short local tows are the cheapest option.
• Vehicle type: Heavy trucks, SUVs, and low-clearance vehicles may need a flatbed, which costs more.
• Time of day: Late-night, weekend, and holiday requests often include an after-hours surcharge.
• Terrain and recovery: Ditches, mud, or off-road recovery requires specialized equipment and adds labor time.
• Impound / storage: If your vehicle goes to an impound lot, daily storage fees apply on top of the tow.

Insurance & Membership Discounts

Many auto insurance policies include roadside assistance or reimbursement for towing costs. Check your policy or call your provider before paying out of pocket. Some credit cards and auto clubs (e.g., AAA) also cover a portion of towing fees or a set number of miles per year.
